I was much more succinct when I reviewed this at rateyourmusic.
Okay this is a quirky one. The EP is called "1986" (which is one of the best EP's of 2007 mind you) and the backstory behind the saga is that Kavinsky crashed his Ferrari in 1986. The clip posted is how his zombie-like appearance goes in and out of hospital to drive again from the throes of death. The song is very retro and 80s and so is the animation. I wanted to find something on YouTube to post with this, and found a videoclip which I am watching right now.
He's from Ed Banger records, has the same manager as Daft Punk and both he and SebastiAn opened for Daft Punk on their Alive 2007 tour. He's wicked cool. Looks like a dirty bastard just waiting to date your daughter, but he's got this slick feel about him. Like if John Travola were a teddy bear.
All the remixes change the prefix to the second word. Like 'Nightdrive', 'Overdrive', etc. SebastiAn takes it to whole new levels in the remix on this EP (the original, Autodrive, is from the Teddy Boy EP released a year earlier)
Three cheers for French House.

flight of the conchords
First taste of these Kiwi folk... folks was from a random YouTube journey of their live New York show. I'm glad I stumbled upon them then, as almost directly preceding my discovery, there was a conspicuous flood of love for Flight of the Conchords from everywhere. Now I can say that I knew them before they were cool.
HBO smacked them up for a TV series based in New York. They tied their songs into the show, based around innocuous observations or ridiculous situations.
They released their self titled LP this year, but I hate digipaks so I haven't really thought about buying it. It features a whole bunch of my favourite songs from the show, so it's like deja vu listening to a new CD that I already have heard somewhere before. Odd sensation.
Favourites are "Bowie" because it's so true it makes me laugh, "Inner City Pressure" because of the unusual rhyming patterns and my favourite line 'the manager Bevan, starts to abuse me. Hey man I just want some museli'. "Foux du Fafa" because it is borderline racism, "Robots" because of the ridiculousness of the context juxtaposed with the emotionlessness of the voices and "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros" just because.
Overall it's a riot. Love it.

Totally stoked about this. Might write down some thoughts in due course.
