pnau

A recommendation from a few friends with exceptional taste in music, Pnau is a very solid release with more than a handful of catchy tunes.

My first exposure was in the form of Wild Strawberries when I saw Pnau's live set at the 2008 Big Day Out in Adelaide. The gritty, almost industrial nature of the sound and perplexing originality of the lyrics got me interested in what they had to offer. Only after I got home did I remember a friend of mine buying this album months earlier.

Pnau pops up all over the place in my life, from d-floors to milk commercials. The uplifting and positive visual and vocal mix of colours and childish voices is something that has both mass appeal and a brief indie vibrance for the shameless music snobs.

Start to finish is a rollercoaster of emotions, from ecletic spontaneity of limb movements for No More Violence to passive wonder for With You Forever, PNAU is, for lack of a more appealing or less outdated term, super duper.

I'm just hoping when I recommend this to friends they'll think as highly of me.
